In fact, it's the most frequently asked question we receive! So, grab your fashion sense and get ready for a wild ride as we dive into the fabulous realm of photoshoot fashion. Let's turn heads, make memories, and create laughter-filled photographs that will leave you grinning from ear to ear!

Engaging Engagement Shoots

Dress to Impress! Engagement shoots are a celebration of love, joy, and the exciting journey towards forever. To make your engagement photos truly extraordinary, here are some style tips that will make you feel like a superstar.

  • Coordinated Outfits: Lovebirds, let's coordinate without going overboard on the matching outfits. Choose attire that complements each other's personal style, incorporating harmonising colours or tones. Let your love shine while showcasing your individuality.

  • Dressed to the Nines: This is your time to shine! Dress up a notch above your everyday wear. Ladies, don that dreamy dress that makes you feel like a princess. Gents, go for that sharp suit that exudes confidence and charm. It's all about feeling fantastic and letting your inner radiance light up the camera.

  • Comfort is King: While dressing up is essential, comfort should never be compromised. Opt for outfits that allow you to move and express yourselves freely. The more at ease you are, the more your genuine love and happiness will radiate through the lens.

  • Location Inspiration: If your engagement shoot has a specific setting, such as a romantic park or breathtaking beach, let it inspire your wardrobe choices. Ladies, flowy and ethereal outfits that harmonise with the natural beauty around you will create a magical atmosphere. Gents, consider earthy tones or beach-inspired colours to blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Feel the magic in every frame!

  • Accessories for Flair: Sprinkle some extra magic on your photos by incorporating accessories that reflect your unique personalities. Ladies, don a statement necklace or a delicate hairpiece to add an enchanting touch. Gents, a classy watch or a well-chosen pocket square can elevate your style effortlessly. Let the details speak volumes about your love story!

  • Patterns to Avoid: While patterns can be fun, choose wisely to avoid distractions. Large or busy patterns can divert attention from the main focus—you and your love. Opt for simpler patterns or solid colours that let your connection shine, allowing your chemistry to steal the show.

Bonus Tips for Him: Gentlemen, consider getting a fresh haircut a few days before the shoot. It will give you a polished look that complements your attire. If you prefer a clean-shaven look, ensure you shave the morning of the shoot for a sharp appearance.

Bonus Tips for Her: Ladies, treat yourself to a fabulous hairstyle that makes you feel like a goddess. Whether it's soft waves, an elegant updo, or a chic braid, let your hair accentuate your beauty. And if you love makeup, go for a natural and radiant look that enhances your features without overpowering your natural glow. If you’ve been offered a hair and make up trial for your wedding day, this might just be the perfect opportunity to book it in, and see how it will all come together it in your photos.

Fantastic Family Shoots

Capturing Togetherness! Family photos are a celebration of the unbreakable bonds that bring you closer together. Here's how to dress your best and feel incredible for an unforgettable family photoshoot.

  • Colourful Coordination: Forget about matching outfits; let's embrace a coordinated colour scheme! Choose a palette that harmonises with each family member's style, allowing their individuality to shine while creating a cohesive look.

  • Comfort is Key: Little ones are full of energy, and adults need to be flexible too! Select clothing that allows everyone to move freely and feel at ease. Breathable fabrics and comfortable shoes are your secret weapons for capturing genuine smiles and laughter.

  • Harmonise with the Backdrop: If your family shoot takes place against a specific backdrop, such as a serene park or vibrant cityscape, let it guide your fashion choices. Opt for neutral tones that complement the surroundings or choose colours that pop against the scenery. The result? Mesmerising photographs that encapsulate the essence of your location.

  • No Logos, No Distractions: Keep it simple and timeless, allowing your family's loving connection to take centre stage. Avoid clothing with large logos or bold branding, as they can divert attention from the most important element—your family's bond.

  • Layers and Textures: Add depth and visual interest to your outfits by incorporating layers and textures. Ladies, consider a cosy cardigan or a stylish scarf. Gents, a well-fitted jacket or a textured sweater can effortlessly elevate your look. These additions create a visually stunning ensemble that showcases your family's unique style.

  • Dressing for the Seasons: Adapt your wardrobe to the weather and season. In warmer months, embrace light and breezy outfits that evoke a carefree spirit. For colder seasons, layer up with cosy sweaters, scarves, and hats, radiating warmth and togetherness.

Bonus Tips for Him: Gentlemen, ensure your hair is neatly styled and trimmed. Consider a fresh shave or grooming your facial hair to perfection. These small details can elevate your overall appearance and make you feel confident in front of the camera.

Bonus Tips for Her: Ladies, pamper yourself with a hairstyle that makes you feel like a queen. Whether it's cascading curls, a chic updo, or a trendy braid, let your hair be an extension of your radiance. If you enjoy makeup, enhance your natural beauty with a touch of foundation, mascara, and a pop of colour on the lips. Embrace your uniqueness and let your confidence shine through!

Dressing the Kids

When it comes to family photoshoots, we’ve found the best way to get the most cooperation out of the kids is to keep it fun and playful. We encourage the little ones to be themselves. If this means them running around, or if it means they want to throw a tantrum we will continue to be relaxed and just photograph them as they are. Because of this when we talk to clients about what the kids should wear, our general answer is “whatever you can get them in”. But on the off chance that you’ve got a kid/s that’s willing to cooperate; here are some suggestions.

  • Prioritise Comfort: Kids need to feel comfortable and free to move during the photoshoot. Opt for soft and breathable fabrics that won't irritate their sensitive skin.

  • Bright and Playful Colors: Vibrant colors can bring out the joy and energy in children. Consider dressing them in cheerful hues that reflect their lively personalities.

  • Avoid Busy Patterns: Busy patterns can be overwhelming in photographs, especially when multiple family members are wearing them. Stick to simpler patterns or solid colors to maintain visual harmony.

  • Dress for the Season: Just like adults, kids should dress appropriately for the weather. Layering is key during colder months, while lightweight and breathable fabrics are perfect for warmer seasons.

Maybe this should have been at the top of the page - awkward.

These tips and ideas have been written by a 30 something year old Dad, who spends a majority of his time in gym clothes… Most days I send Aria to school in some sort of dress up dress (the favourite at the moment is Mirabel from Encanto) or somehow I manage to pick a patterned top, with patterned tights. It’s also written by the same person who took his family on an all day shopping adventure to find the perfect shirt for family photos in Bali, only to leave it at home and then had to settle for the next best shirt that could be found in Bali.

So naturally you should take these tips with a grain of salt.

Your engagement and family photoshoots are extraordinary moments meant to be cherished forever. By following these fashion tips and embracing your own style, you'll enhance the magic and capture the essence of your unique love story or family bond.
