5 Reasons Why You Should Hire A Professional Wedding & Family Photographer

In today's fast-paced world, time slips away quickly, and precious moments can fade from our memories. However, there is a powerful way to hold onto those special times: by capturing them through the lens of a professional wedding and family photographer. As an experienced photographer in Australia, I understand the immense significance of preserving these memories. Discover how professional photography becomes the gateway to treasured stories and cherished memories that will last for generations with my 5 reasons on why you should hire a professional photographer.

#1 Capturing Unforgettable Wedding and Family Memories

By freezing the magic of each moment through the lens of a camera, we encapsulate the emotions, atmosphere, and beauty of those unforgettable instances. These carefully curated images serve as visual reminders, allowing you to relive the joy, love, and laughter shared with your loved ones. From candid shots to skillfully composed portraits, each photograph tells a unique story that etches those precious memories into your hearts forever.

You may think right now that absolutely everyone who cares for you and matters will be at your wedding, but don't discount future generations. Aria, our 5-year-old, loves flicking through our wedding album at the moment. She likes to point out everyone that made the journey to Thailand to celebrate our marriage with us. While she wasn't even a thought on that day, she's able to share in the joy of the day almost 8 years later.

#2 Preserving Your Family Legacy

The connections we forge and the memories we create with our family and friends shape our lives in profound ways. Professional photography becomes the key to preserving these legacies for future generations. By looking back at timeless photographs, you not only experience nostalgic joy but also pass down your stories, traditions, and values to your children and grandchildren. These photographs become tangible links to your history, reminding everyone of the love and strength that flows through your family bonds.

Recently, I went down a rabbit hole of trying to find out as much as I possibly could about the origins of one side of my family here in Australia. Thanks to some DNA links and some family tree chasing by my grandmother, we were able to locate photos of my family as far back as the 1870s! It was such an amazing experience to be able to look at these people that I'd never met but could clearly see from family resemblances that it was undeniable that we are related.

#3 Finding Comfort in Cherished Memories

In life, we experience moments of joy, but also times of grief and loss. During those difficult periods, photographs provide solace and healing. They serve as portals to the past, allowing us to reconnect with those who are no longer with us physically. Each image becomes a cherished relic, a reminder of the love, laughter, and adventures shared.

Not long after my Nan and I went on our family tree expedition, she sadly passed away. When I was younger, my Nan and Grandad took my two siblings and me across vast distances of Australia on extended road trips. Nan was always on grandad's case to make sure he had his camera to take as many photos as possible. In 2021 at my uncle's 50th, Nan asked me to take a photo of her, Grandad and their 4 kids. I didn't know it then, but this would be the last photo I took of my grandmother.

The above photo was on one of the epic trips down in Tasmania. I know not technically taken by a professional photographer, but you’ll notice the absence of my grandfather in the photo; had we had a professional with us, he could’ve been in the photo - (although I suspect Grandad preferred being behind the camera). I deeply appreciate the profound value of these captured moments. They enable me to continue sharing her stories with Aria, keeping her memory alive.

#4 The Skill of Professional Wedding and Family Photographers

While smartphone cameras have advanced, the artistry and expertise of professional photographers remain unparalleled. Professional wedding and family photographers have an eye for detail, composition, and lighting, enabling them to create images that authentically reflect the essence of each moment. At Jack Ham Imagery, our team of skilled and passionate photographers specializes in capturing the magic of your special occasions—weddings, family gatherings, and more. #5 Creating Lasting Family Traditions

Professional family photo sessions provide an opportunity to create lasting traditions and memories for your family. As the years go by, you can look back on these sessions and witness the growth and changes within your family unit. From adorable childhood moments to the bonds and connections that strengthen over time, professional photographs document the journey of your family. They serve as a visual timeline, allowing you to reminisce and celebrate the love and togetherness that defines your family's story.

Every year, we book in for our Santa photos to be taken on the Central Coast of NSW. Yes, it does cost more than having it done at our local shopping centre. Yes, we must drive up the coast on a summer's weekend (along with half the population of Sydney). BUT – we absolutely love doing it. Aria loves seeing Santa at the beach, we love that we've created a tradition where we all get to sit and smile with Santa. We love that we get to go to the beach afterward or go out for some fish and chips by the water. For us, it's more than just paying for some obligatory photos; it's now a part of who we are and what our Christmas looks like. It's beyond exciting to add the latest photo to the collection on the windowsill every year.

Have I convinced you?

We did our first overseas holiday as a family earlier this year. Not to miss an opportunity for some new family photos to, we booked a shoot with a local professional photographer. While it's nice to have our snaps from our iPhone (including the monkey selfie), you can't compare them to what we were delivered from the professional photoshoot. That's why I hire professional photographers, and that's why you should too. In a world characterised by constant change, holding onto our memories becomes paramount. Photographs serve as tangible mementos, preserving the beauty, love, and experiences that shape our lives. They become treasured gateways to relive stories, strengthen family bonds, and find solace during times of loss. Embrace the power of professional wedding and family photography and seize the opportunity to capture those fleeting moments. Contact us at Jack Ham Imagery today, we’re ready to help you create lasting memories that you and your loved ones can cherish for a lifetime.
